The Social Planning Council is maintaining lists of candidates and news headlines for the October 27 municipal election. View them at http://info.waterlooregion.org/election-2014/
The scripts candidates.py and headlines.py extract data from two Google Spreadsheets and generate CSV and JSON files. These files are available for re-use under a CC BY-SA 4.0 licence.
