"home indicator" bar doesn't allow changing pages easily on iPad OS

Long story short is that newer iPads without a home button have a home indicator / "home bar" / bottom bar type thing that gets in the way and prevents you from navigating. It is a pretty big issue.

Expectation
It should work well on iPads with ability to drag the slider instead of just tapping in some places.
