Understand, document, customise data table filters

Right now we just leave the default filtering code. However, it may conflict with the 'style' of buzzword queries somehow, or worse, there may be big syntactic differences.

Need to try out the existing functionality and then make a decision about customising and so on. Then obviously it needs good documenting.
