One of the big ticket features for Servlet 4.0 is Server Push. This is covered in SERVLET_SPEC-134. This JIRA covers how that feature is utilized in JSF 2.3.

Proposal

Add a bullet point in spec prose document section 2.2.6 Render Response, in the bullet point list introduced by the text "However, all JSF implementations of this phase must conform to the following requirements:".

  • If running on a container that supports Servlet 4.0, after any dynamic component manipulations have been performed and are completed, any resources that have been added to the UIViewRoot must be pushed using the Servlet 4.0 Server Push API.
