Save-PackageUpdates writes to file ~/.updateInfo while Write-PackageUpdates checks for the existence of ~/.updateinfo (lower-case). That works on Windows because the file system API is case insensitive but fails on Linux and macOS. The result is that Write-PackageUpdates never displays package updates.
