Hello,

not an issue.

I just wanted to let you know that I use your Eagle design to test some of KiCad function (someday you will probably find links).

It is 'github' that suggested me your project. Clicked on it, red it, remembered a little vhdl, notted Eagle

If you are a dev (of course you are) with RF skills, I think KiCad can use some gears from you ;)

Hi, sorry for the late reply, somehow I missed the notification. There is actually a second improved version of this project and someone is already attempting to migrate it to KiCad.
Personally, I have never given KiCad a serious try, maybe it is time for that now :)

This version is complicated enough to test the Eagle->Kicad converter.
It does a decent job

  • schematics ok
  • pcb looks ok but some work to do I think

I you try KiCad v5, it has the eagle converter. But now they are full on debugging v6, so no backports fix. As I said, they probably better appreciate a RF developer able to add some functionality ;)

v5.1.7 is stable and OK for prod. You must accept that when you put a resistor on the schematic, you will choose latter the footprint for it ( eg smd, tht, big 15 watts etc etc. Same for all components. It's the "footprint association" step.

you already got some image of converted board/schematic. Here VNA-1

Just FYI

VNA-1 have some graphics lines that are stacked 3 times. An example is R94, with the courtyard defined thee times. Perhaps all this is corrected in v2. I thought it was a bug in the KiCad converter ;)

Hm, Eagle seems to behave weird with the stacked courtyard. When I open the footprint I can only see one. As mentioned on the KiCad issue this could actually be a bug/workaround in Eagle. I didn't create the resistor footprints myself, I believe they are from a default Eagle library, so this problem is most likely also present in v2
