This is a backport of those changes so that they can be used directly in Python 2.6 - 3.5

Requires: Python >=3.6

I agree it's a little confusing, but here's my reasoning - the project itself still supports Python 2.6+ (through older releases) and it's worthwhile for the readme to reflect that support. If that comment is only meant to reflect the supported versions of the current release, then it probably should just be removed to defer to the package metadata to declare for which versions it's valid.
