Unable to remote control / send message to a certain device - reason unclear #2418

Could it be a wan vs lan thing? Weird issue |
Unlikely. Both my user and myself in the screenshot above was connecting via wan at that point. |
We're reworking some of the message system in nightly, it might already be fixed. |
Logs were showing that the client closed the websocket even though the browser was up and running, usually after a short idle period. I presumed there was some connection timeout issue. Setting the reverse proxy connection, send and read timeouts to something more than 60 seconds (Syno's default) seem to have solved the problem. |
Could you give more details on the syno default fix? I can add notes to the docs |
When creating a reverse proxy via the Synology DSM GUI, the timeout will be defaulted to the following: I changed all the timeout values to 420 secs (7 minutes). It's probably not the optimal number, as 7m is the recommended value for my Gotify setup so I arbitrarily applied the same for Jellyfin. Seems to have fixed the problem though. |
Thanks :) |
Describe the bug
One of my users was playing a video and I realized I could not pause/stop his session. I could not send a message either (I can attemp to send but the message would not be received). Websockets are configured on my server and it works with other users/devices I have tested. To ensure it was not related to user rights, I logged in as the same user with my device and remote control was working (see screenshot below). Most key login parameters remain the same, i.e. both logged in via the same FQDN and using Chrome on Android.
To Reproduce
Not able to reproduce on my own terms, but consistently observed with this one user's device
Expected behavior
Should be able to pause/stop my user's session and send messages
Logs
Unsure which part of the log will be helpful, this is pretty much the whole thing
