Not available or not working?

Edit: tested, not working with latest Blender.

Maybe someone can write a bash/python alternative?

I have looked into the issue and fixed it in my original branch (https://github.com/Isti115/BlenderRenderController) in the latest release (https://github.com/Isti115/BlenderRenderController/releases/tag/0.5) which does not have all the features of this fork, but at least runs for me currently. If that does not suit your needs, I recommend checking out mikeycal's solution based in Python: https://github.com/mikeycal/the-video-editors-render-script-for-blender
