Brief Abstract

When following links, it can be easy to forget where you came from. Tracking these trails can help maintain context.

Long Description

Proposed by Ulrich:

From browsing the internet, it is easy to get carried away and to lose context. So anything which helps to preserve as much context as possible is a welcome addition.

File trails help maintain context, when doing deep dives clicking around links in notes.

File trails can later be used to:

  • generate a buffer summarizing a roam session (clock in/out, track time spent in buffers/which buffers are edited)

Proposed Implementation (if any)

  • Have a buffer-local variable org-roam-file-trailcontaining a trail from the root file
  • org-roam-find-file resets to trail to single item containing file
