When title is declared as multiline text block in json header (like 'title: |'), pandoc formats it as RTF paragraph instead of single string. This is wrong for \title and \author declarations, and may lead to appearance of extra spaces at the beginning of document.
Probably, title and author should have special handling in RTF (e.g. as in latex).
I use 'pandoc -s -t markdown -f markdown' command to normalize my texts. It rewrites long title string in json header to text block as described above. If this rewriting behavior is correct, then compilation results should be identical.
