Thanks for the prompt reply. I'm not intentionally mixing packages or using old ones. But I recently upgraded from 3.16 to 3.17 using I did notice a package called Here's the information you asked for:

I think this issue can be closed. AKMS is doing its job correctly. I cannot build a valid module from the acpi_call module's own source code. I made a minimal kernel module and this compiled but also could not be loaded, with the same error from the kernel. Now that I've isolated the bug to this simple test module it should be easier to debug. Actual module building is broken, not AKMS. Many thanks for the assistance. |

There's not really many controls here, so I've run out of things to try, and mostly this system is a default Alpine install. The differences are an encrypted partition layout and EFI boot process using SYSLINUX.
