Hi, apologies for the disturbance.
I have a quick question regarding bibtex-clean-entry and org-ref-clean-entry.
When vising the bibtex file with the entries, trying to apply any of the above functions to any entry that is missing the journal title I get similar behaviour to issues #40 and #42.
Wouldn't it be better if we were prompted to enter the journal title in case of just getting mandatory field journal is missing message.
Similar behaviour to what happens when the journal is in place but only the year is missing?

The missing journal title message you're seeing is from bibtex-format-entry, which is a bibtex.el function with over 300 lines. It's probably easier to insert the missing field manually and then run the clean-entry command a second time. If you really want a prompt, you can add a new function to the org-ref-clean-bibtex-entry-hook hook which checks if a journal field exists:
(bibtex-search-forward-field "journal")
and if it doesn't, create one and prompt for the title:
(bibtex-set-field "journal" (read-from-minibuffer "Enter journal title: "))
