Dropbox unable to generate access token on Android #2391

Your Environment

  • Version used: 7.12.0 (from F-Droid)
  • Operating System and version: EMUI 8.0.0. (Android 8.0.0)

Expected Behavior

Successful Dropbox authorization and syncing.

Current Behavior

An error message at the bottom of the screen:

Dropbox: Unable to generate Access Token from Auth Code

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Install an Android app.
  2. Go to Settings -> Sync & Export -> Sync
  3. Choose Dropbox as the sync provider.
  4. Follow the link and obtain the auth code from Dropbox.
  5. Paste the auth code and click on "Save".

Can you reproduce this reliably?

Yes, this happens whatever I do.

Some of the things I've tried:

  • Use the same auth code which I got for the desktop app (by the way, it's unclear whether I'm supposed to do this or not).
  • Disconnect Super Productivity from Dropbox and delete the folder created by the desktop app, as suggested here.
  • Clear the app cache and data, as suggested here.

In the desktop version, synchronization works fine, but I really need to sync between multiple devices. This issue is preventing me from using the app.

Thank you very much for opening up this issue! I am currently a bit overwhelmed by the many requests that arrive each week, so please forgive me, if I fail to respond personally. I am still very likely to at least skim read your request and I'll probably try to fix all (real) bugs if possible and I will likely review every single PR being made (please, give me a heads up if you intent to do so) and I will try to work on popular requests (please upvote via thumbs up on the original issue) whenever possible, but trying to respond to every single issue over the last years has been kind of draining and I need to adjust my approach for this project to remain fun for me and to make any progress with actually coding new stuff. Thanks for your understanding!
