I think there should be a check which skips playbook runs if splunk is allready installed.
It would be nice if i could run playbooks repeatable and only new config values would be updated

Thank you for the helpful feedback. I agree on this. In the case that the installation is skipped, we would still have to restart splunkd for configuration to be applied, etc. Do you think this would meet your use case to just skip the installer, apply config, and restart as normal?
@johnmcgovern if you could update role with features that skip the installer (incase already installed), apply config, and restart splunk, it would meet my use case. I think it would meet community cases also (because you are not afraid to run playbook on many splunk instances and brake something.)
