I just found this link for free SSL certs for OSS projects, and immediately thought of js.org. Would be awesome to be able to serve DNS services via HTTPS if possible. Here it is: https://www.globalsign.com/en/ssl/ssl-open-source/

@indus can correct me if I'm wrong, but it looks like js.org is hosted on Github Pages (e.g. http://js-org.github.io/js.org/). GitHub doesn't support SSL for custom domains.

That said, I guess Sheharyar Naseer found a way to make it work? https://sheharyar.me/blog/free-ssl-for-github-pages-with-custom-domains/

@SVincent Thats true - JS.ORGs pages are hosted on GitHub (as a proof of concept of dns.js.org). But the Domain-Host and the DNS-Server is GoDaddy. In the moment I just add a CNAME record to JS.ORGs zonefile in the DNS-Manager for every requested subdomain.

@bnb Because I use a standard GoDaddy plan and do not run my own DNS server (costs would be to high for a free service, and service quality maybe would be to poor) I don´t see a chance to use the free SLL certificates easily with this setup and I´m also not willing to do all the paper work to get approved in the moment ;-)

@SVincent I´ve set up a test for a currently unused domain to give the CloudFlare approach a try. If everything works I may deploy to JS.ORG later. In the moment I just don´t have enough experience with CloudFlare and I definitely don´t want to mess around with the domain of hundreds of JS projects.

Thanks for your suggestions. I hope I have good news soon...
