Sleepy Tourists #32
Comments
I'd try to theme them both the same if possible - the grey background and bold red highlight is a pretty good style, so you could push that onto the other ones a well. I'd also put the annotation for the data and graphic outside of the bar, otherwise you think it might have something to do with the bar itself. But yeah! I think updating the style of the second to match the first would give you a great match. It's fun but you might need to ditch the bed graphic, as the tone of the first graphic is much more serious and probably wouldn't work with additional graphics 😉 |
love the one that combines the two line charts in one you showed us in class. |
@jsoma: I agree that the style of the two graphs is different. Actually, that's what I wanted to try out. Since some of the graphic guys at our paper are quite adventurous, I will stick to the different approaches. I did change the colors and the byline, though. Does it look better now? |
@thisss, these are great, and I like the new matching color scheme! One suggestion, as someone mentioned in class, it could be interesting to connect the highpoint of tourists from each year to create a smoother line graph. I believe you said the oscillation in the line is due to seasonal ebbs/flows, so perhaps you could note that in the text on your graph and add that the points on the line reflect only the annual high points. You could then consider laying the Euro line on top of the smoother tourist-highpoint line to make the correlation more apparent. Just a thought! |
Hi there, I'm the Playfair Bot! Would you mind posting the appropriate checklist in the main body of your issue? You might have posted it as the first comment, but it turns out it works way better in the actual body of the issue - just go up to the veeery top right and click the pencil icon to edit. You'll probably want to edit the comment to copy the checklist, then edit the original issue to paste it in. Thanks! 🙏 |
Hi there, I'm the Playfair Bot! Thanks for posting your story issue, but would you mind adding editing the original issue to add the first draft of your image? You have my sincere apologies, but it's easier for dumb robots like me when the comments are only used for updates. Thanks! 🙏 |
Hi there, I'm the Playfair Bot! Would you mind linking to your pitch issue by using the '#1' method (but with your actual pitch issue number)? It'll hopefully help us keep things neat and organized. Thanks a zillion! 🙏 |

)I wanted to look at the countries of origin of tourists in hotels in and around my hometown Bern. The finding: Most people are coming from Switzerland. Second is Germany.
