What is Digital Signature (DS)?

DS is used to authenticate the sender of the data. The image below demonstrates the flow:

What is Certificate Authority (CA)?

However, the public could be forged by another middle man and thus the signature itself become no longer credible. In order to verify the validity of the public key and the signature, we need some way to authenticate the source. This could be achieved by using CA.
