Julia-vscode doesn't work with Julia versions 1.7 and 1.8 on Windows 7 #2772

When trying to use vscode on Windows 7 with a version of julia after 1.6, vscode is unable to start julia and gives the error:
"Could not start the Julia language server. Make sure the configuration setting julia.executablePath points to the Julia binary."

julia-vscode works correctly for me with Julia 1.6, but I'm unable to upgrade. I've tried playing around with the julia.executablePath variable, un/re-installing vscode, julia and julia-vscode and deleting all vscode files on two computers to no avail. This discourse thread shows other people experiencing the same issue.
Thanks for your work

How did you install Julia? What setting are you actually putting into julia.executablePath. Much more specific details would be very helpful here.
