Would be nice to have some documentation, and examples in README.md so that one can get started with some simple stuff. I am currently looking at the tests to see how to use this package.

Also, the installation instructions in the README could be updated to say Pkg.add(), now that it is listed in the packages.

Is there any recommended ways to document a Julia package?

You can look at the manual in the julia source and adopt JuliaDoc.

The README has been updated for the new version, but the usage is basically the same as matplotlib.pyplot and it doesn't make sense to try to reproduce their voluminous documentation here.
