Make categories themselves "widgetable" without necessarily using submenus

Why is this feature needed? Please justify and explain.

I guess I'm not the only one who can't imagine a use for submenus. But without them user can not make a separate widget for each category

I'm sorry but I don't understand. You already can set widgets per category.

I'm sorry for inconvenient explanation. English is not my mother tongue.
Uploaded the screenshot.
What I mean is to make highlighted "TV Shows" - widget itself.
For now - if you delete submenu (popular, top rated, etc) - you won't have widget showing while highliting "tv shows".
This relates to my issue #803

Yes you can have widgets without a submenu. That's always been possible.

It just leaves a gap where the submenu would be.
