Is it possible to stop Container(513) from constantly refreshing when autoplay info trailer is enabled?

I wasn't sure if this was a bug or a Kodi limitation so I decided to post here.

If you have the Info trailers turned on and you click right from the play button to move into 1120 to start browsing the Director's catalog, the container(513) keeps refreshing every time a trailer starts/stops. This makes it difficult to move between the different sections.

I don't know if I'm remembering this correctly, but a similar issue (maybe?) affected the home screen when the spotlight trailer used to start/stop.
But for a while now, once the widgets in the home screen have loaded, they are not affected by the spotlight trailer playback.

Why is this feature needed? Please justify and explain.

No. Kodi refreshes all containers whenever you start or stop playback. This is hardcoded into Kodi's code.

You just don't notice it on the homescreen because it doesn't show a busy spinner while updating if the container already has items. But I guarantee it happens always.

Yeah I think the only "fix" is to simply stop the trailer playing when details opens.

And the trailer playing for other movies in that window is 100% a skin bug (which should be pretty easy to fix) - just didn't consider that scenario when writing the timer and never noticed myself because I personally don't use autoplaying trailers (I find them annoying honestly - most of the time I already know what I want to watch, so it just gets in the way).

Haha I absolutely get you. But the sleek design of AF and the trailers have been a huge selling point to get the rest of the family onboard with Kodi (they are more familiar with the visual aesthetic of other streaming platforms and it's been a ride getting my setup to cater to their tastes).
God knows what I would have to do if I was just stuck with Estuary!

@OfficerKD637, the aesthetic is definitely something that helps the normal user accept Kodi. As for the trailers, I think you can convince them to press a couple of buttons to start playback (especially with the inherent delay).
Fortunately for me, I was eventually able to retrain my household to accept certain compromises in exchange for the increased features and customization. Especially since there is a trailer button on the menu/dialog, only one long press away.
My key argument was based on whether they really always wanted a trailer to play every time they weren't clicking the remote or whether they just "got used to it" from Netflix. I ask this question often, especially for content discovery, in an attempt to encourage more flexible thinking.
Trailers do make the screen feel more "alive" but then I introduced them to autoscrolling spotlights and screensavers (arctic mirage) as an alternative, which was well accepted.

I do have to caveat, as the only technical person around here, they have grown to trust me on these matters over time hahah. And most importantly, the age range in my current household is not that large! I can totally imagine facing more difficulty swinging this by my old folks or some whippersnappers! 😅

I was almost going to mention exactly this! If it were possible for Kodi to play muted and without the busy dialog blocking navigation so it's more like how most streaming platforms now work, then I wouldn't half mind it as much -- it's having the busy spinner popup and stop you from moving and then getting blasted by a trailer with explosions or a booming "In a world where..." voice over that's the annoying part (especially when you forget and walk away from the TV then have to go running through the house to stop it!).

Haha I 100% agree with both of you and what you just described is very relatable. But @L0bsang completely read my mind! My old folks are satisfied with just having their cable TV (and when we have a family movie night, it's usually me that sets up everything).
But if the kids get the remote and want to watch their stuff..... then to put it lightly, I'd say it would be easier to reason with the devil than change their mind about anything they adamantly dislike.

And I forgot to mention that this commit 72ea132 fixed this bug by disabling trailer playback in the details window so I'm very happy!
