Today, agetty does seem to keep the cursor settings unchanged.

Apparently, at least "blinking" and "off" states are preserved.

Would be great if agetty could reset those together with the other terminal settings on startup.

Bug-Debian: https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=375275

Make sense.

We have to be careful with some settings (especially for serial lines), but the cursor setting sounds good.

BTW, I have committed 5df455d

This change makes --init-string usable also for virtual console, so you can specify arbitrarily sequence to initialize the terminal. It's a generic solution, but it would be better to have something like:

   agetty --set-term bg=red,blank=30,blink=off
