OCR is a huge topic. Good OCR is even harder. There is a google code project
for
this already I think they use it with their book search tool. They've been
working
on that one since 1995. http://code.google.com/p/tesseract-ocr/

The main disadvantage of tesseract-ocr is that it is written in C. Having a
good OCR in AForge isn't such bad idea. AForge is written in C# so maybe Andrew
could introduce a wrapper within AForge library with a easy for use interface
(API) and allow us to play with mentioned OCR in managed code.
