High cpu usage on android

Hi. Sorry I don't have a screen dump of the process, however this is with good reason as when it happens, the mobile phone grinds to a complete halt, one time even rebooting. It goes very hot, so I suspect it is CPU usage. This happens when the app is not open. The reason I think/know it is the keybase client is that both me and a friend have had the same problem independent of each other with the only two similarities being keybase and that it is a Sony mobile phone. A Z3 compact (running android 6.0.1) and Z5 compact (running Android Nougat) respectively. He system restored his and as soon as he installed keybase the issue began appearing again.
