Describe the bug

When Kiali emits traces, the service name is created as "kiali", but the search of the traces is done by "kiali.istio-system".

Expected Behavior

Show the traces that Kiali emits from Kiali workload.

What are the steps to reproduce this bug?

  1. Enable observability section
  2. Go to Kiali workload
  3. Go to traces
  4. No traces are shown

Environment

  • Kiali version: Dev version from master branch
  • Istio version: 1.20
  • Kubernetes impl:
  • Kubernetes version:
  • Other notable environmental factors: Tested with Jaeger and Grafana Tempo, also tested in the cluster.
