Mark timesheet as "finalized" #4899

Describe the problem

Currently we are using paper timesheets.

Timesheets are due by 10am Monday. And then I pay everyone.

But with Kimai it is not clear if the timesheet "is done".

For example, did a person work on Sunday and forget to fill in their hours or did they not work?

Describe the solution you'd like

Staff can click to mark the timesheet for the week as affirmatively "closed" with them not able to make further edits.

Describe alternatives you've considered

This issue is still valid and should be fixed.

But additionally I have opened a discussion here to hear how other people are working around this: #4934

Finalized is in Kimai "exported".
Exported timesheets cannot be edited anymore by regular users.
On Monday morning you use the export to filter all unpaid timesheets of the previous week.
If your staff forgot to input hours for last week, they will get paid next week.
Kimai does not have an approval workflow.

This workflow requires changing our company policy:

  • Current: we double check and delay payroll until it's correct
  • New: we pay people late if their timesheets are late

This new policy probably violates labor laws. But more important, it would reduce morale of the team.

Kimai needs a "mark as complete button" for workers to mark their sheets as finalized.
