As always, dont use patched fonts. See the kitty FAQ about it. And
absolutely do not map all unicode codepoints to a single font. The FAQ
again has the appropriate mapping to use for nerd fonts.

Those are not glyphs in the NERD fonts.
NERD fonts are from the PUA unicode block.
I suggest you install a font that actually has those glyphs some like
symbola probably.

It does work, I'm using openSUSE-Tumbleweed with CascadiaCodeNF and google-noto-coloremoji-fonts. |

Hello there,
I am not able to show some glyphs under WSL. I am running kitty 0.34.1 under Ubuntu and Wayland.
I'm trying simple echo commands as a PoC:
Here are the results under Kitty:

And this is under Windows Terminal:
I have tried everything and can't find a reason for why Kitty is behaving like that.
I have a symbol map configured:
Then, when I run the application I get these logs:
If I remove the symbol map, I get uglier messages:
And Kitty shows this:

I noticed another strange behavior, if I try to set the symbol map to something else, it fails and tells me that it selected a font called
Noto
, which is a system installed font.Setting
symbol_map U+10000-U+FFFFF CaskaydiaCoveNerdFontMono-Regular
, gives me:Anyone has some idea of what could be causing this? I'd like to get these glyphs showing correctly.
More context:
VK_ICD_FILENAMES=/usr/share/vulkan/icd.d/lvp_icd.x86_64.json GALLIUM_DRIVER=llvmpipe
are to configure the display driver, if I remove them the behavior does not change.linux_display_server x11
), and I get the same results.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
