ESC c is "full reset" according to the xterm control sequence document, and on all emulators I tested --- vte, xterm*, urxvt --- it clears scrollback as well as the screen contents. CSI ? 3 J does clear scrollback though.

  • Well, on xterm, it leaves one line of scrollback, but that's probably just a bug.
