can't install app on watch

I was able to build the project, install the app on the iPhone but when I try to install it on the watch from the watch app it just takes a long time and ends up failing.
WatchOS 5.1.3
iOS 12.1.4

I ran into this issue as well so I tried installing it directly to the watch through Xcode and that seemed to work.

I downloaded the project from this link instead of cloning the repo and it worked.
