"AndroidManifest.xml file missing" when trying to build from svn source #12

Hi,

I'm trying to build androidscreencast on my own, because I can't wait until
a new release to fix issue #3 is released.

So I checked out the source from svn and now whatever I try to get Eclipse
recognize the AndroidScreencast project, I always end up with the message
"AndroidManifest.xml file missing".

I'm a newb with both Eclipse and Android development, and searching the web
I didn't find the answer to the question: is this AndroidManifest.xml
missing from the svn tree or is Eclipse supposed to build that file somehow?

Regards...
  Michael

AndroidManifest.xml is not needed because it's not a standard app which can be
installed on the device. You have to create a jar file, and then convert it to
an
dalvik executable and create a new jar file with it.
I may add an ant file is the repository for that.

Thank you for your feedback

Step by step :
create a jar from compiled classes.
dx --dex --output=classes.dex myjar.jar
insert classes.dex in the jar file

Thank you for your kind help. Alas I'm not even able to compile the classes, so
I
think I should not waste your time anymore - especially since I now remembered
that I
have a su binary (from the Instant Root), so I could make /data/local/tmp world
writable:

chmod 0777 /data/local/tmp
chmod 0777 /data/local
chmod 0777 /data

All these directories pre-existed, but had 0771 permissions.

Now it works, great! The mouse and keyboard don't work, but I'll open another
issue
for that (after searching, of course).

Thank you for your great work!

Thank you for adding the build.xml file. I ran ant on it but it bailed out with

 [javac]
/usr/local/src/android/androidscreencast-read-only/AndroidScreencast/src/net/src
z/android/screencast/Main.java:11:
package com.android.ddmlib does not exist

Is there some setting missing in my environment (I can build "hello world"
examples
in Eclipse) or should I give ant some parameters? I ran ant in the directory
with
build.xml.

In the build.xml I can see:

  <property file="../${ant.project.name}.conf"/>

but I don't have a *.conf in .. (there are only the directories
AndroidScreencast and
AndroidScreencastClient).

this is where i defined all the parameters specific to my computer :

The tag added to produced jars :
version=xxxx

The location of the sdk :
android.sdk=/a/b/c/android-sdk-linux_x86-1.5_r3

JAR signing for jnlp startup :

sign.keystore=../my_keystore
sign.storepass=xxx
sign.keypass=yyy
sign.alias=zzz

For auto deployement to google code "download section" :
gc.username=aaa@gmail.com
gc.password=www

If you have a suggestion to how i can provide an easier way to build the
project, i'm
interested.
