@reteo we should start thinking about updating the mod support for 1.10 before releasing a beta. I looked through the currently supported mods, and it looks like the following exist for 1.10:

New mods worth supporting:

Ars Magica 2 is now open-source, so there's always the chance that someone will revive it.

As for CommonOres, that's part of the JMOD Collection designed by Yours Truly. JMOD is currently a 1.7.10 mod, since Survival Industry is keeping pace with Reika's mods, but it's not necessarily going to stay there, depending on its use.

I'll try and look things over, but I've already got a pretty full plate at the moment (school, work, Survival Industry pending release, pending Survival Industry public server on DirtHuts.com), so please bear with me.

If you want to try those mods and report which ones are failing, I'll see if I can dedicate some extra time to them. I have rapid prototyping stuff for the configs (sprocket-related), but the time sink is from delving into the source code to find the ore generation code. If you guys can narrow down the list of mods that even need tweaking for this release (ones that don't already work, out-of-the-box), I'd be grateful.

I trust that while COG has been updated to 1.10, the XML has not changed?

I didn't know that AM2 went open-source. That's good news. I think I was looking at the wrong Common Ores mod. No rush on this. I was just laying out a plan. The XML has not changed, but note that we might have to extend it to handle the new block states abstraction around block metadata. I'm guessing most of the updating will just be handling changes to block IDs and such.

It did (or, at least, it was released under the CC-NA-NC license).

As for block names, that's what I suspect as well. However, I really haven't advanced past 1.7.10, so I won't be keeping up with you guys for a while. Simply put, no RotaryCraft, no Reteo.

May I suggest basemetals and/or modern metals as basic catch all ore packs? They are supposed to run with OreSpawn but its currently in development and I dont think its planned to have anywhere near the sophistication of COG.
