Thanks for the heads up, I will reach out to the CRAN team about that.

Hi @lawremi - I don't suppose you've had some time to fix RGtk2 for CRAN? I was able to compile myself on R 4.1, but 4.2 is giving lots of errors 😢 (I presume this was why it got dropped). Fortunately our software (iNZight) ships with R, so can force 4.1 on users - but I was looking forward to UTF-8 support in 4.2 for our non-English users!!

EDIT: I see some issues were updated in some recent commits, so removing unhelpful install output.

The latest version in github should build. I am honestly not sure why CRAN dropped the package. At some point they stopped responding to my emails, so I just assumed they decided that it wasn't worth their trouble anymore.

Sometimes CRAN members don't respond.
I once submitted a fixed version after they stopped responding to my question and then they accepted it.
I guess they don't respond when they believe they gave enough information to package maintainer.
They are not kind but they don't reject a package that doesn't have any issue.
You can resubmit RGtk2 package if the latest version of RGtk2 doesn't have any issue now.

@tmelliott FWIW, I've been able to build the package on R 4.2 (Windows).
