opening this to start a discussion

what would you think about adding a parallel execution to this tool? I'm guessing main file loop could be done using threads

I'm not particularly experienced with Python threads nor do I even know if PIL and OpenCV are threadsafe

but you mentioned execution speed being a concern on a PR, and it reminded me that I had already been wondering about whether this would be possible
