if you get invalid hostid, then device has expired pairing record, you need to unpair device, and pair it again.

Maybe an idea to print that as a suggestion when the error occurs?!

Confirmed running idevicepair pair does resolve this issue when it occurred for me.

This Issue can likely be closed as a duplicate of #922 and that issue has some more context/conversation.
