Hey @diasdavid I don't know if you saw but I did a proof on concept on this a while back https://gitlab.com/no9/udt4

It's v sketchy right now but the server and client in the examples folder should work on an older node.
Let me know if you find this is helpful in anyway as I'd love to see even a small part of it used.

Thank you for sharing this Anton :) Wanna help us build this shim so that we can use it in libp2p? As long as it fulfils the expectations details by https://github.com/diasdavid/abstract-transport and https://github.com/diasdavid/abstract-connection, plugging it to https://github.com/diasdavid/node-libp2p-swarm should be no sweat :)

Sweet glad it's of interest
I'll take a swing at it over the next while but I'll have to pull it up to nan 2.0 so it'll take a bit
There's an ipfs meet up next week in Dublin so I'll see if I can bring other folks to the repos
