Lichess mobile 8.0 stuck in offline mode, regressing from 7.16.1

Describe the bug
Lichess mobile 8.0 is stuck on offline mode despite no issue with network.
An install of the version 7.16.1 showed no such issue, so it looks like a regression in release 8.0

To Reproduce
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
I just run Lichess mobile on my phone

Expected behavior
It shouldn't be stuck in offline mode

Smartphone (please complete the following information):

• Device: Sony Xperia XZ
• OS: Android 8.0 stock
• Version 8.0 installed from F-droid

Additional context
adb logcat -v threadtime throws a very long stacktrace I join here:

I'm experiencing the same problem 😿I got to maneuver it before I play...

I even started using chrome to play
