I don't know, it's not a command I use myself. It's in the menu Edit -> Mark -> Yank, but it's also grayed out for me.

So after some experimentation, it looks like yank is used as a sort of paste in the following way:

  • Set mark
  • Move cursor
  • Delete to mark

Now yank will paste the deleted text after the current cursor.
