Load fonts from file

I know about this, but I was wondering if there's a way to load that font from a file and not installed one?

If not, is there a way to check if that font was loaded?

as of #1143 this is now possible, although it isn't very well documented; but you can load font data on the text factory, and then use the loaded font by its family name.
