Docker for Mac is the recommended install option for osx: https://docs.docker.com/engine/getstarted/step_one/

But our readme is using previous vm-style commands:
https://github.com/BuoyantIO/linkerd-examples/blob/master/linkerd-tcp/README.md

for example on my machine:

$ docker-machine ip
Error getting IP address: Host is not running
