It would be nice if this can also work with a free/opensource or just alternative hypervisor than only hyper-v.

@strarsis I think that is not possible because of implementation of Windows Containers feature by Microsoft.

But interesting questions is that why it matters that it is based on Hyper-V? Microsoft has spent years and plenty money to developing Hyper-V and example whole Azure is running on Hyper-V platform so it is definitely best tested hypervisor for Windows.

The Microsoft lcow support is quite Hyper-V specific and this is not the right place to discuss porting it. It would be a lot of work I think, but feel free to work on it. The code in this repo is just support code really, but the code is open source so use it as you will.
