Cinnamon takes long time to load after we log in and sometimes we start to worry. Adding a welcome screen that loads after MDM would be nice and assuring for new users :D

I may be wrong here, but I believe the display manager would handle something like this. MDM (which Mint uses) has it's github here: https://github.com/linuxmint/mdm

Great! Wish they implement it! it gives a sense of completeness and uniqueness to Cinnamon

👍 In FOSS world, KDE allows Splash screen configuration with good theme collection and is much better compared to Windows, IMHO.

Now what about this beast for gnome http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/fashion%3A+Linux+Mint+plymouth+theme?content=163633

It is a bootsplash I made for the next release of Linux Mint! lease test it and tell me what you think!!

Yes, I'd support KDE style splash screen as a toggleable option. I also like how flickr displays those funny messages while loading. 'searching for meaning' , 'milking the butterflies' etc. That can be worth looking into.
