This is gonna be fiercely low priority now Mint uses MDM but in LightDM the Cinnamon session is without badge.

A user on the mint forums has provided a solution with a custom Mint badge: http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=211&t=103684

... which gives this result (poor picture quality but gives an idea!): http://i.imgur.com/VOapK.jpg

Without badge the Cinnamon session just has a white circle as logo which can lead innocent people to the false and dangerous assumption that "GNOME" or "Ubuntu" are cooler sessions!

It's the same white circle in the Ubuntu 12.04 login greeter.

Would like to see a white badge with a cinnamon stick as the logo. But, yeah, it needs one...

Hi,

Good idea, though I'd like to see one done for MATE as well, and rather than using the Mint logo, I'd like to see something that looks like Cinnamon.

Too bad cinnamon doesn't translate easily to a logo! How about a dragon ...with a head of cinnamon? http://oi50.tinypic.com/2d91vkj.jpg

Notice the dragon spells out a C if reversed.

How about a stylized "C" letter? or a stylized "Cnm"?

Probably more sensible.

Serious note: if you made a "help design the cinnamon logo" type post on the forum maybe a few skilled minters could come up with something. A stylized C is a good idea and probably not too difficult to make attractive (and fits well in a circle).

Perhaps one could also create a mascot. I would like to see one. ;)

I threw one together since, well, I'm procrastinating. It should look nice in a small little icon. It can also be shaded if a nicer icon is needed somewhere (maybe start menu button?). The circle is just for reference.

I can provide the SVG if desired (and/or edit the shape).

Edit: fixing shaded version

@TeutonJon78 Well done. yes, the menu icon can be configured (right-click the menu > panel settings) and it accepts PNG and SVG files, so you can use a transparent background.

@AlbertJP - I know it can be configured. I use the Ubuntu logo SVG. However, I was more saying that beside just the login badge, it could potentially be used as the start menu icon as well. So, the monochrome version for the badge, shaded version for panel menu logo. I was including the circle so people could see what the badge would look like, since all of them have the white circle (not sure if that is part of the supplied images for LigthDM or not).

I like the idea for the end of the stick :)
