Issue:
Cinnamon freezes while dragging application on the dock and press 'Esc' on keyboard. Apps still running.

Expected behaviour:
Cinnamon won't freeze.

I had the same issue, and then replicated it on a different PC (both Linux Mint as specified above, one is a laptop).
Came here to report, but Furry beat me to it.

Same issue, but with the built-in "Window list" and "Panel launchers" applets.

The "cleanest" way I know to recover from the crashes is to use Ctrl+Alt+Backspace (I think you need to make sure that shortcut is enabled in Startup Applications), but that closes all my open GUI programs and kicks me back to the GUI login screen.

Yep, same for me.

BTW, if it helps, the best way that I could find to recover without losing your running programs after a crash like this is to run setsid cinnamon --replace --display=:0.

Cinnamon 5.2.7, still have that problem
