Intel® HD Graphics 4400 (mesa and xf86-video-intel drivers)
64bit
Only on external monitor (2560x1440 via DPI), not so much on built-in (1366x768), so could be related to that or the resolution
Issue
Ever since updating from Cinnamon 5.2.7, I'm seeing:
lag in menu open animation
lag + screen blanking in expo animation
stuttering in text input areas (screen can't keep up with a pressed-down key), in particular in Emacs and Firefox address bar (not in Xterm though)
None of the text input issues persist in GNOME or XFCE, that's wy I assume it's unrelated to those applications.
Steps to reproduce
Launch emacs, press down a in an empty buffer - letters appear in a stuttering way
Launch firefox, press down a in the address bar - letters appear in a stuttering way
Trigger expo mode with a few windows - screen very briefly flashes black/dark, then expo animation stutters
Expected behaviour
Smooth animations and text input
Other information
Stuttering in text input also happens in MATE 1.26.0, but not in XFCE 4.16 or GNOME 42.2
With software rendering, Cinnamon stutters even more
