I could not type Japanese (Mozc) in the search window after opening the bottom left cinnamon menu.

Steps to reproduce

  1. Check the status of Japanese input
  2. Switch to Mozc
  3. Input Japanese あああああ(aaaaaa) to the address field of the web browser.
  4. Japanese is inputted.
  5. Open the bottom left Cinnamon menu.
  6. Type Japanese あああああ(aaaaaa) in the search window. The indicator of Mozc is あ, that correct.
  7. The result is just input aaaaa, not Japanese
  8. Linuxmiint 21 Xfce Edition is no problem.

Step to reproduce movie

Expected behavior

I just tested on mint 21.2 beta, I can't get fcitx to work but ibus seems to be working ok in the menu applet search bar. I installed ibus and added Japanese (Kana) in ibus preferences.

Hi
thanks reply.
I followed the procedure and confirmed that I can enter Japanese (Kana) in the search field of the menu.

However, although Japanese (Kana) is one of Japanese input method and keyboard layouts, it is not very popular.
When inputting Japanese, people generally prefer "Romaji input," which combines alphabets to form Japanese.

Mozc is one of its counterparts.
I think the situation is similar in Chinese and Korean(asian).
There is no problem with xfce/ubuntu(Mozc), so I think something in the desktop environment setting is different.
