No right click with touchpad since Cinnamon 3.2 #5996
Comments
Post some info for the touchpad, see example below.
|
Sure, here are the details:
|
Can confirm. Same issue with using libinput. |
So you are both using clickpad's? |
No, I am using a touchpad. I.e. the whole touchpad is clickable, but there is a thin line at the bottom, indicating that the click in this area should trigger a left or a right click: https://res.cloudinary.com/gregpakes/image/upload/v1439623950/zggt8voocr0vlf3lo0nl.jpg |
Looks like a clickpad to me https://wayland.freedesktop.org/libinput/doc/latest/clickpad_softbuttons.html |
You are right; I got the term the other way around. So, apparently yes; Clickpad user here. |
Can you post
|
|
Hi, can you see the issue here? |
To me it looks like buttonareas is disabled
http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/wily/man4/libinput.4.html
|
yep, that's the issue. somewhere it changed to clickfinger (the default is buttonareas). |
@whot Is there a way to enable it, libinput is new to me. |
https://wayland.freedesktop.org/libinput/doc/latest/group__config.html search for libinput_device_config_click_set_method |
@whot So we need to code a way to set it like gnome? |
sorry, had a mental blank here. you're still on X only, so you don't need to care about libinput's API. you need to set the X property on the xf86-input-libinput. set the "libinput Click Methods Enabled" property to 1 0, then it'll switch. effectively the same code as you already have for the various other properties, just change the name string over and make sure the rest of the data matches the libinput-properties.h header file comments for the property. |
Isn't this already in cinnamon-settings-daemon linuxmint/cinnamon-settings-daemon@6394ea6#diff-250d4b93b427bda75e2c27fb0b7a81bbR833 |
@jmgomezpoveda what's the output of gsettings list-recursively | grep cinnamon? I suspect the two-finger-click is set and needs to be set to false. |
Can also confirm experiencing this issue since Cinnamon 3.2.1 on ClickPad. |
|
org.cinnamon.settings-daemon.peripherals.touchpad three-finger-click 2 those two enable clickfinger on the touchpad. set them both to 0 and it should work.
|
@whot Had the same issue, can confirmed this resolved it for me. |
Please make use of something like pastebin when adding huge walls of text. Keeps these issues a lot more readable. |
I'm not going to tell you how to run the cinnamon project but pastebins are terrible for bug archives. You can't get to a bug for a week? logs are gone. Want to check the archive for what triggered a bug in a previous release? logs are gone |
That has indeed fixed right-clicking on my clickpad. PS. Sorry about the wall of text; I was expecting github to show it in an iframe with a scroll bar. |
@jmgomezpoveda Didnt work for me so far. Do you just type these commands in in terminal with sudo. I didn't get an error message but nothing changed |
I didn't use sudo; just ran them like that. |
gsettings sets local user configuration, so if you run it as sudo you're setting it for the wrong user :) |
for myself, the solution by @jmgomezpoveda works for me with :
After disabled this option on cinnamon 3.4 : |
@jmgomezpoveda, is this still an issue in Cinnamon 4.4? |
Hi @Vahan86, apologiI am not using Cinnamon at the moment. |
Ubuntu user here. Since I have upgraded to Cinnamon 3.2, I can no longer right click using the bottom-right corner of my synaptics touchpad. I can only use the two-finger gesture.
The Mouse and Touchpad control panel does not offer any setting to configure this.
This was working perfectly with Cinnamon 3.0.7.
