Steps:

  1. login with a user A
  2. choose Logout-Switch User
  3. on the login screen choose Quit-Reboot

Expected result:
system reboots.
Desktop and running apps of user A are not shown on the screen.

Actual result:
Desktop and running apps of user A are shown on the screen.
Then system reboots.

Many thanks for contributing to MDM. I think to recall I was able to reproduce this as part of analyzing another issue. As this issue isn't preventing MDM from working and Linux Mint has moved to use LightDM with Linux Mint's Slick Greeter I'm closing this issue for now.

If you're still affected by this issue on Linux Mint 18.2 or 18.3 you likely upgraded in place from an earlier Linux Mint release. Upgrading in place wouldn't replace MDM unless you did it yourself. See the instructions on https://blog.linuxmint.com/?p=3306 for replacing MDM on Linux Mint 18.2 or 18.3 if you upgraded in place from Linux Mint 18.1 or earlier.
