 * Cinnamon 4.6.7
 * Linux Mint 20 Cinnamon
 * Desktop resolution 1920x1080

Issue

When I create a new folder on the desktop and change its color through the context menu, the icon looks pixelated or low-res. This repeats with any theme. This does not repeats in Nemo.

Steps to reproduce

Create new folder on the desktop → context menu → change color on yellow for example.

Expected behaviour

After changing the color of the folder, the icon does not look pixelated.

Update

If you create a color folder via Nemo elsewhere and then move it to your desktop, the icon will look as it should: sharp and nice.

I think the issue should be reported directly to Nemo ? The desktops icons are managed by Nemo as far as I know...

Apologies for the inconvenience, but here is a temporary fix for anyone who needs it. I usually see the correct folder resolution being chosen when first installing Linux Mint and changing the color, but then some time after, it defaults to the /16/ path. Though it has been quite a bit since I last tried a new installation.

I am experiencing the same issue in Nemo as well. It is most visible when you set the folder icon in say list view and then change to icon view.

I am on Linux Mint 21.3 Cinnamon with Nemo version 6.0.2

After looking for a while, I think linuxmint/folder-color-switcher#29 is the actual issue, because it relates specifically to the folder color switcher extension
