AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT 0 RPM #389
Comments
Is the gpu fan conected using two wires or three wires? |
GPU fan use to show but it stopped few months ago. |
Did you upgrade your kernel? Whats your current kernel version ( |
Kernel: 5.16.14-1 |
Ok |
I use Manjaro, so there's always some sort of updates. I also use pop_os on the same computer and the kernel version is 5.16.15 and the gpu fan works just fine |
Hmmm, do you use any 3rd party kernel modules? |
Just it87-dkms-git for the ITE drivers. There's a version debian and one for the arch distros |
Strange, so when you updated to 5.16.14 rpm reporting stoped working, but with 5.16.15 it works just fine? |
I have the latest version, there is an experimental version 5.17 which i've also tried but didn't work |
Maybe you could ask the Manjaro forum, since the issue seems to be specific to Manjaro. |
Tried, manjaro forum, reddit manjaro , github lm-sensors and gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd with no success. So now I've written a bash script to calculate the RPM from the pwm1 sensor. I'm not a coder so if someone thinks he can improve it then please be my guest.
Then I just added this to conky
|
Ok, then i advise you to submit a bugreport on the manjaro bugtracker. This way the maintainers of the manjaro kernel will be informed of this regression. |
This is also an issue on OpenSUSE Tumbleweed with kernel 5.18.2-1 and the yellow_carp GPU (Asus G14 2022 laptop with 6700S). See https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/drm/amd/-/issues/1925 |
Please check wether the gpu fan is actually controlled by the gpu and not some 3rd party chip. If its any regression, notify your distribution about this. |
Also it seems that the issue was fixed: It usually takes some time for such fixes to appear in the stable kernels. |
Just apply the patch, it works fine. |
fan speed is showing as 0 RPM even when I increase fan speed using corectrl, even though you hear the fan running at higher speed
